We are raising bulls with the commercial man in mind. Our bulls are sold at our annual bull sale, and females at select sales throughout the year. The customer is always #1. Ter-Ron Farms is located three miles south of the scenic town of Forestburg, Alberta. Our third generation farm is committed to providing both purebred and commercial cattle breeders with quality Red Angus bulls and females. Terry and Sharon are on the original Paul Adams homestead which he started in 1946. Here they have lived since 1974 and have raised three children, Rob, Shauna, and Kerri. Rob and his wife, Maureen, are just north of the home Ter-Ron headquarters where they live with their daughters Halley, Keely and Kasey. It is a mixed farming operation that keeps us very busy with grain farming in the spring and fall and calving in the winter and all the numerous other cattle related tasks throughout the year. Terry started into the purebred industry in 1967 with 10 purebred Polled Hereford heifers. From this he built a successful Polled Hereford herd growing to 140 cows. In 1997, Rob purchased the first Red Angus females from Ron Devolin and Jim King. Both Terry and Rob recognized the need for change in the industry, and in order to meet the needs of their commercial customers, purchased another group of females from Kevin Alder. They could really see the potential in the Red Angus breed and felt it was a very good product to offer their customers. From here, we have developed a Red Angus herd that we are very proud of. At Ter-Ron we are currently breeding 230 Red Angus females. We are striving to produce bulls that suit the needs of our commercial customers. Our females are broody, easy keeping cows that can have a calf, feed the calf, and still maintain themselves in order to breed back year after year. We have a strict culling process to maintain the high standard of cows that produce the type of bulls that we are proud to sell. In 2006 we realized the beginning of a dream, that of holding our own bull sale. We had the first annual Get A Grip Bull sale in Stettler with Redrich Farms. We offer approximately 75 yearling and 2 year old Red Angus bulls at the annual Get A Grip sale in March. It is still our aim to eventually have a sale facility and be able to host the sale right on the farm. We have had success showing cattle at major shows such as Agribition and Farm Fair. In 2007, we were very honoured to have our bull RED TER-RON FULLY LOADED 540R win the RBC Supreme Beef Challenge. This is the largest all breeds show in Canada and we feel very blessed and honoured to have raised a bull that won such an event. Our philosophy at Ter-Ron Farms is to breed easy-going, low maintenance cattle that work for us as well as for our customers. We are raising bulls with the commercial cattle man in mind, and females that will do the job of raising great sons. |
